JANKA Thick Women's Wool Beanie 01 Ecru
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
JANKA is a thick handmade beanie made from 100% sheep’s wool, with an elongated oversized shape – designed for autumn and winter, when you want a very substantial feel around the head. You can check availability (ready to ship or made to order) by clicking on your chosen size.
When JANKA is a good choice
This version of JANKA works well if you are looking for a thick wool beanie for cold autumn and winter days, but do not like turn-up brims and prefer a relaxed, elongated back. It suits everyday, easy styling when you want warmth without a very close fit around the head. It may not be the best choice if you have a very sensitive scalp or do not tolerate the slight itchiness of wool. It is also worth keeping in mind that this is a substantial beanie – you will clearly feel its presence on your head, both physically and visually.
Wool and skin contact
The beanie is made from a single strand of 100% sheep’s wool with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification, which means the yarn has been tested for harmful substances. The thicker, slightly fluffy yarn structure gives a solid wrapped feel and the characteristic warmth of wool while remaining breathable. With normal skin sensitivity, it is usually comfortable to wear, but very sensitive skin may notice some itchiness – in that case, consider wearing a thin headband underneath or choosing a different style.
A shape with a relaxed feel
In this version, JANKA is a beanie without a turn-up brim, with an elongated back and a lightly oversized shape. The single rib adjusts to the head circumference, but it does not create as compact a barrier as a thick double layer with a folded brim – giving a more relaxed visual effect. The lack of a turn-up also means less knit fabric over the forehead and ears than in styles with a double brim, so during very long periods in severe frost you may notice the difference compared with the most covered designs.
Gentle care helps extend the life of the beanie and the wool – you can find detailed guidance in the wool care section of the shop.
How JANKA performs in everyday wear
- Thick knit in a single rib – creates a solid, flexible structure that holds warmth well for everyday winter wear.
- Oversized shape and elongated back – give a more relaxed look and leave room for hair, which can be practical with tied-up hairstyles.
- No turn-up brim – reduces the number of layers over the forehead and ears, so the beanie feels less enclosing around the head, but it does not insulate as strongly as styles with a double brim.
- Smooth surface with a light fuzzy finish – means that despite the thick knit, the beanie does not feel rough to the touch, although with frequent friction it may pill moderately.
- Natural wool – helps maintain thermal comfort because it responds better to temperature changes than synthetic winter beanies made only from acrylic.
- Hand-knitted – gives a more flexible fit than stiff machine-made beanies, but it should be handled without heavy stretching.
- Removable eco-leather label – makes it easy to take off before washing, which helps reduce the risk of distortion or damage during care.
