VARELLA Turn-Up Baby Merino Wool Beanie 100% 467 Lody Pistacjowe
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
VARELLA Beanie is a handmade merino wool beanie in a medium weight, designed for autumn and winter, with a turn-up brim and a softly shaped crown. Availability depends on the selected variant — click your size to check whether the style is ready to ship or made to order.
Best suited to these conditions and needs
This style works well if you are looking for a beanie for cold days that gives coverage without a heavy, bulky feel. It is well suited to everyday wear in autumn and winter, especially when a calm, comfortable feel against the skin matters. It is also a good option for people who are usually cautious about wool. If you need a very thick beanie for severe frost and long periods outdoors, it is better to consider a fuller, heavier style.
Yarn and how it feels to wear
I used 100% Baby Merino, a finer type of merino with a smooth knit surface and no fuzzy halo. In practice, this gives a neater, softer feel against the skin and helps reduce the prickly sensation sometimes associated with wool, so this style is also suitable for sensitive skin. The yarn is certified to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.
Like any wool that needs gentle handling, it requires hand washing; you can find a short guide here: wool care.
How it sits on the head
The beanie shape is close-fitting but not rigid, so it sits neatly on the head while keeping a softer line at the top. The turn-up brim helps define the shape around the forehead and keeps the beanie sitting securely in wear. The rib works with the movement of the knit, which helps the style adapt to the head better than smooth, less flexible stitches. If you prefer very loose, strongly oversized beanies, this shape may feel too close to the head.
Key features in everyday wear
- 100% Baby Merino – offers a soft feel against the skin and helps reduce the typical discomfort sometimes associated with wool.
- Medium weight – works well for autumn and winter without the feel of a heavy, fluffy beanie.
- Turn-up brim – adds extra coverage around the forehead and ears and gives the beanie a cleaner line.
- Single rib – adds stretch, so the beanie adapts better in wear.
- Smooth surface with no fuzzy halo – practical for everyday wear if you do not like a fluffy texture around the face.
- Handmade on a knitting machine – helps maintain an even, neat knit and a consistent shape.
- Pilling resistance: medium – with regular wear, normal signs of use may appear over time, which is worth considering when choosing.
Matching accessories
If you would like a different finish, this style also works well as a beanie with pom-pom in the same yarn and colour range. You can also add matching shawls, wraps and snoods if you are putting together a coordinated set for the colder season.
