WATA CUKROWA Women's Alpaca Beanie 02 Mgła szary niebieski
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
Thin, lightweight women’s beanie with a turn-up, WATA CUKROWA Fog, is a handmade alpaca and merino wool beanie with a clearly fluffy halo, designed for autumn and winter. When this beanie is a good choice
This style works well if you are looking for a warm yet very lightweight handmade beanie for colder days, one that does not feel heavy on the head and allows the skin to breathe. Colour 02 Fog is a muted blue-grey mix that is easy to pair with everyday jackets and coats without overwhelming the outfit. The beanie is suitable for typical autumn and winter weather; for extreme frost or strong mountain wind, a thicker style from the collection would be a better choice. If you have very sensitive skin on the scalp or neck, this fibre blend may feel slightly itchy – in that case, it may be worth wearing it over a thin layer.
Feel against the skin and wearing experience
The yarn is a blend of 71% alpaca, 25% wool (merino) and 4% polyamide, with a distinct soft halo on the surface. This knit gives a light, cloud-like feel – you can notice the fine fluff both to the touch and while wearing it, without the sense of heavy, dense wool. For some people who are very sensitive to natural fibres, there may be a slight prickly feel, especially during longer wear directly against the skin.
Shape, turn-up and fit
I made this beanie by hand on knitting needles in a single rib stitch, which gives the knit elasticity and helps it fit the head well. The shape is a light oversized beanie with a turn-up – once on, it creates a slightly taller silhouette without fitting too tightly, so you can arrange it more straight or with a looser back. The turn-up adds an extra layer of knit over the ears, which improves warmth, while the beanie still keeps a visually light look. The stretch works best for typical women’s head sizes – if your head circumference is very small or very large, the fit may not be ideal.
How this beanie performs in everyday wear
- Thin, fluffy alpaca and merino knit – gives noticeable warmth at a low weight, which is practical for longer wear in the city or while travelling.
- Rib stitch throughout – provides elasticity and helps the beanie stay securely on the head, reducing the tendency to slip down over the eyes.
- Turn-up over the ears – creates a double layer of knit in an important area, which improves warmth in windy weather.
- Texture with a distinct soft halo – gives a visually soft, slightly misty effect that works well with coats and jackets in neutral colours.
- Moderate resistance to pilling – with regular wear, light pilling may appear, so it is worth refreshing the beanie from time to time with a fabric shaver.
- Thin, breathable yarn made with natural wool – helps reduce overheating indoors and on public transport if you do not take the beanie off immediately after coming inside.
- Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate – this means the yarn used has been tested for harmful substances, which may matter if you pay close attention to fibre composition.
Details and extras that may matter
The beanie is finished with a removable eco-leather Nitkowe Love label, which you can easily take off before washing or if you prefer a completely plain look. If you would like matching pieces, in the matching shawls, wraps and snoods section you will find accessories that complement this beanie in colour, including alpaca shawls and scarves in a similar style. To help preserve the shape and qualities of the wool, I recommend hand washing and gentle care; you can find detailed guidance in the wool care guide.
