HELEN Turn-Up Alpaca Beanie 618 nugat beżowy
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
The HELEN turn-up beanie in 100% alpaca wool, colour 618 Nougat, is a medium-weight, close-fitting beanie for autumn and winter, with a defined rib and a soft halo on the surface. To check whether a particular option is available ready to ship or made to order, click on your chosen size.
When this beanie is a good choice
The HELEN style works well if you are looking for a turn-up beanie that fits close to the head and gives noticeable warmth in the colder season, without being very bulky. The neutral nougat beige is a good option if you want a calm, understated colour that works with different coats and jackets. This beanie may not be the best option for people with a very sensitive scalp, especially around the forehead and ears. On milder days above freezing, it may feel too warm during more intensive activity.
Against the skin and the nature of the yarn
The beanie is made from 100% alpaca wool with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification, in a medium-weight knit with a visible soft halo. The yarn feels pleasant and flexible, but the fine fibres may feel slightly itchy for people who are especially sensitive to wool. If your skin reacts strongly to natural fibres, it is worth taking this into account before buying.
For care, I follow the guidelines described in the wool care guide — following them can genuinely extend the life of the beanie.
Shape, turn-up and fit
HELEN is a close-fitting beanie made in a single rib, which helps it stay in place on the head and not slip down over the eyes in everyday wear. The turn-up creates a double layer of knit over the ears, which increases the warmth in that area and gives the edge more structure. The rib construction gives flexibility, but when choosing a size it is best to follow the standard sizing — if the size is too small, the beanie may feel tight; if too large, it may lose its stable fit.
How it works in everyday wear
- Medium-weight knit – suitable from late autumn into winter, without feeling heavy on the head.
- Turn-up edge – creates an extra layer over the ears, which increases insulation on windy days.
- Single rib – gives the beanie stretch and helpful day-to-day fit to the shape of the head.
- Knit with a soft halo – gives a soft, slightly fluffy visual effect, but may be noticeable on the skin for very sensitive people.
- High resistance to pilling – helps limit quick wear in areas exposed to friction, supporting longer neat use.
- Handmade on a knitting machine – allows control over stitch density and evenness, which supports consistent fit across sizes.
- Natural alpaca fibre – responds well to changes in ambient temperature, so the beanie is less likely to overheat as quickly in changeable weather.
Extras and matching pieces
You can add a matching pom-pom to the HELEN style if you prefer a more defined look. The beanie also pairs well with shawls, scarves and snoods from the collection — you can find accessories to complete the set in matching shawls, wraps and snoods. This makes it easier to choose the level of coverage for your neck and head to suit the weather, while keeping the set visually consistent.
