VARELLA Turn-Up Merino Wool Beanie 102 żeglarska pieśń
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
VARELLA is a fitted beanie with a turned-up brim, made from 100% Baby Merino. It has a medium-weight knit for autumn and winter, shown here in the melange shade 102 Sailor’s Song with a fine, irregular print. Availability depends on the selected option — click your size to check whether it is ready to ship or made to order.
When it works well
This style works well when you want a merino wool beanie for everyday wear in the colder season, without a heavy, fluffy texture. The colour mix combines ecru with small touches of blue and green, so the overall look feels calm but not completely plain. It is a good choice if you like beanies with a turned-up brim and want a soft feel against the skin. If you are looking for a very thick beanie for hard frost or a completely solid colour, this version may not be the right one.
Yarn and feel in wear
I used 100% Baby Merino here, certified to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100. In my experience, this yarn works well where a calm feel against the skin matters: the knit is smooth, without a fuzzy finish, and the material itself is marked as suitable for sensitive skin.
As with any wool, durability depends largely on proper care — the manufacturer recommends wool care with hand washing.
A shape that sits neatly on the head
This is a beanie style with a turned-up brim, so it sits close to the head while the top keeps a slightly elongated line. This cut gives a more structured look than loose, slouchy styles. The folded brim visually tidies the shape and changes the proportions around the face. If you prefer a very loose, oversized effect, a different style will suit you better.
What the construction means in everyday wear
- Medium weight – gives coverage for autumn and winter without the feel of a very heavy beanie.
- Single rib – helps the beanie fit the head better and hold its shape more steadily during wear.
- Smooth knit surface without fuzz – the feel across the forehead and ears is calmer than in styles with a fluffy finish.
- Handmade on a knitting machine – allows for an even, neat structure typical of carefully finished handmade work.
- Print 102 Sailor’s Song – fine blue-green speckles on a light background add some life to the beanie while still pairing easily with an everyday wardrobe.
- Pilling resistance: medium – with regular wear, signs of natural use may appear, as is typical for delicate wool.
Matching accessories
If you would like to change the look of this style, you can choose a beanie with pom-pom in the same yarn and a matching colour. You can also add matching shawls, wraps and snoods if you want a coordinated set for the colder season.
