Material and feel against the skin
The main yarn is 100% alpaca, and the second is a blend of 75% mohair and 25% silk, creating a lightweight, springy knit with a visible soft halo. This composition holds warmth well without much bulk, while still allowing the skin to breathe during everyday wear. The yarn is certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100, and its increased resistance to pilling helps the beanie keep a neat appearance for longer.
The combination of alpaca and mohair may, however, feel slightly itchy on very sensitive skin, especially during longer wear without a lining.
Shape and fit of the MARGARET style
This beanie is knitted by hand by me with two yarns held together, in a double rib that works with the head circumference and helps it stay in place. It is a close-fitting turn-up style that sits well around the head and ears, without feeling tightly restrictive but also without a loose, slouchy back. The turn-up reinforces the area over the forehead and ears, which improves warmth in windy weather. The thin, flexible knit also makes it easy to tuck the beanie into a pocket or bag when it gets warmer.
