NANA Turn-Up Beanie Baby Merino Wool 26 Jasny Stary Róż
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
The NANA cuffed beanie is a handmade merino wool beanie in a medium weight for the autumn and winter season, in a light dusty old-rose shade, with a smooth, stretchy knit. To check whether a particular piece is ready to ship or made to order, click on your chosen size.
When this beanie makes sense, and when it may be better to choose a different one
This style works well if you are looking for a cuffed beanie for cold days that covers the ears well without feeling overly bulky. Its calm pink tone suits everyday, understated outfits and does not overpower the rest of your clothing. It is a good option for those who value natural fibres and handmade work, while accepting the moderate pilling resistance typical of merino beanies with frequent wear. If you want a very thin, barely noticeable beanie to wear under a helmet, or a style with a completely smooth, non-ribbed surface, this shape may feel too defined.
How the material feels against the skin
The beanie is made from 100% Baby Merino with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification. The yarn has a smooth surface and no halo, which supports comfort for sensitive skin. The knit is soft and springy, so it sits well on the head and does not cause the scratchy feel often associated with rougher wools.
If you are very sensitive to all types of wool, it is worth keeping in mind that despite the gentle yarn, this is still a wool product.
Fit and shape
This is a classic cuffed beanie, knitted by me by hand in a simple rib stitch. The stretchy stitch helps the beanie adjust to the head circumference and wrap the head well, without creating a stiff “helmet” effect. The folded cuff creates a thicker layer over the ears, which improves protection on windy days and lets you adjust the wearing depth slightly. The shape is intentionally close-fitting, without an oversized slouch at the back.
Everyday wear – what that means in practice
- Medium-weight knit – suitable for autumn and winter, but not heavy or overly burdensome on the head on milder in-between days.
- Folded cuff around the ears – the extra layer improves insulation where you tend to feel the cold most easily.
- Rib stitch – the stretchy structure helps the beanie stay in place better, reducing slipping while walking or commuting.
- Smooth, non-fuzzy surface – lower risk of catching on jewellery or zips, and easier removal of small bits of lint from the knit.
- Moderate pilling resistance – with frequent use, small pills may appear, which is natural for soft merino beanies.
- Hand washing – requires gentle care, but helps the beanie keep its shape and the fibre its resilience over the coming seasons.
- Light dusty old-rose colour – this soft pink tone works well with neutral outerwear, though it is worth noting that lighter colours tend to show marks more quickly.
Label, pom-pom and matching accessories
I finish the beanie with a NitkoweLove faux leather label, which can be unclipped for washing so it does not stiffen or distort the knit. If you prefer a more decorative style, you can add a matching pom-pom in the same yarn in a colour that suits your chosen shade. To create a consistent set for colder days, you can also choose matching handmade accessories in a similar tone, which makes it easier to keep a similar knit weight and texture around the face.
To help merino wool keep its shape and softness, I recommend reading this short guide on wool care – it can genuinely help extend the life of the beanie.
