VARELLA Winter Merino Beanie 100% Baby Merino Wool 57 Grey-Brown
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
VARELLA beanie is a merino wool beanie made from 100% Baby Merino, in a medium weight for the autumn–winter season, with a turn-up brim and a smooth knit surface. You can check availability by clicking on the size — this will show whether the piece is ready to ship or made to order.
When it works best
This style works well if you are looking for a beanie for colder days that goes easily with everyday outfits without feeling like a heavy winter hat. The grey-brown colour looks calm and neutral, so it pairs easily with other shades in coats, jackets and accessories. It is a good choice for those who pay attention to how a material feels against the skin and want a beanie with a predictable fit. If you need very thick protection for hard frost or a style with a fluffy, fuzzy surface, this version will not be the right direction.
Yarn and feel against the skin
I used 100% Baby Merino — a finer merino yarn, with a smooth handle and no fuzzy halo on the surface. From my experience in wear, this type of material works better where a calm feel against the forehead and ears matters; the yarn also holds the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certificate.
It is still wool, so it needs careful care — a short guide is here: wool care.
How it sits on the head
The beanie shape with a turn-up brim gives a neater, closer-to-the-head look than loose, slouchy hats. The ribbing works with the movement of the knit, so the beanie adjusts more easily when putting it on and wearing it. The turn-up visually defines the line around the face and also reinforces the lower part of the hat. If you prefer a very low, shallow style without a defined edge, this cut may feel too classic.
What the construction means in everyday wear
- 100% Baby Merino – gives a softer, gentler feel against the skin than many classic wool yarns.
- Medium weight – makes the beanie suitable for autumn and winter without feeling overly bulky.
- Single rib – supports a flexible fit and helps the hat keep its shape in wear.
- Turn-up construction – adds an extra layer at the bottom, so the forehead and ears are better covered.
- Smooth knit without fuzz – makes it easier to pair with a coat, jacket or scarf without creating too much visual texture.
- Handmade on a knitting machine – gives the beanie an even, orderly structure and a consistent appearance.
- Moderate resistance to pilling – with regular wear, signs of natural use typical of wool may appear over time.
Matching accessories
If you would like to change the character of the style, you can choose a beanie with pom-pom in the same yarn and colour. You can also pair it with matching shawls, wraps and snoods if you want a coordinated set from the same accessory category.
