| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
VARELLA Beanie is a handmade merino wool beanie in a medium weight, designed for autumn and winter, with a turn-up brim and a smooth knit surface. You can check availability by clicking on the size – this will show whether that option is ready to ship or made to order.
When it is a good choice
This style is for those looking for a close-fitting beanie for the colder months who prefer a calm, smooth look without a fluffy halo. It works well for everyday wear in autumn and winter, when you want coverage without a very heavy, bulky shape. Green Sage is a muted shade of green that pairs easily with a neutral wardrobe. If you are looking for a very slouchy beanie or something specifically for severe frost and extreme conditions, this style may not be the right choice.
Yarn and feel against the skin
I chose 100% Baby Merino here, because in contact with the skin it is not only the fibre content that matters, but also how the finished knit behaves. This yarn is certified to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 and, according to its parameters, is suitable for sensitive skin.
It is still wool, so it needs careful care; you can find a short guide here: wool care.
How it sits on the head
The beanie shape is close-fitting, but the rib stitch gives it good flexibility in wear. The turn-up brim defines the line at the forehead and ears, and the whole piece keeps a clear, neat shape. This is a style that does not create much volume, so it is better suited to those who prefer a beanie that sits closer to the head rather than a strong oversized effect.
What matters in everyday wear
- 100% Baby Merino – offers a soft feel against the skin, which helps reduce the risk of discomfort during longer wear.
- Medium weight – makes the beanie suitable for the autumn-winter season without feeling overly heavy.
- Single rib – gives the knit elasticity, so it adjusts better to the shape of the head.
- Turn-up brim – adds extra coverage around the forehead and ears, where cold is often felt the most.
- Smooth surface without fluff – gives a more tidy look and avoids a fuzzy effect.
- Handmade on a knitting machine – helps maintain an even, carefully finished structure throughout the piece.
- Moderate pilling resistance – with regular wear, it is worth expecting the usual signs of use typical of natural wool.
Matching accessories
If you would like to complete the look, you can choose a beanie with pom-pom in the same yarn colour. matching shawls, wraps and snoods also work well with it if you want a set in a similar style.
