HELLI Turn-Up Merino Wool Beanie 14 Purple
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
HELLI is a handmade turn-up merino wool beanie in 100% Baby Merino. It has a medium-weight knit, is designed for autumn and winter, comes in purple, and has a smooth surface. To check availability, click your chosen size — you’ll see whether the beanie is ready to ship or made to order.
When it’s a good choice
This style suits anyone looking for a beanie for the colder part of the year without wanting a thick, heavy knit. It works well for everyday wear in autumn and winter, especially if you prefer a calm, solid-colour look and a soft feel against the skin. The purple shade stands out, but is still easy to pair with a simple winter wardrobe. If you need a hat for very wet conditions or something that can be washed without much care, this model needs gentler handling.
Yarn and feel when worn
I used 100% Baby Merino here, a merino yarn with no added fibres. In practice, this gives it a smooth hand and a feel that also works well for sensitive skin, without the fuzzy surface that some people find irritating. The yarn is certified to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, which confirms it has been tested for harmful substances.
Like any hat made from pure wool, it should be hand washed and dried gently; you can find a short guide here: wool care.
Shape and how it sits
This is a close-fitting beanie, but not a stiff one, so it adjusts well when you put it on and wear it. The turn-up creates a neater line around the forehead and ears and gives the style a more finished look. The beanie shape leaves a little extra room at the top, so it doesn’t look tightly fitted. If you prefer fully close-fitting hats with no height at the crown, this shape may feel a bit too relaxed.
What its construction means in everyday wear
- 100% Baby Merino – a good option if you want the softness of natural wool without synthetic blends.
- Medium weight – gives coverage for autumn and winter without the feel of a bulky, very heavy hat.
- Double rib – the knit is stretchy, so it adapts better to the head and holds its shape more steadily in wear.
- Turn-up brim – adds an extra layer around the forehead and ears, giving the lower part of the hat more coverage.
- Smooth surface with no halo – the beanie has a cleaner, more defined look and does not have a fluffy finish on the outside.
- Hand-knitted – each piece is made with attention to stitch and tension, which matters for the final wearing comfort.
- Moderate pilling resistance – with regular wear, natural signs of use may appear over time, as is typical for delicate wool.
Additional options
If you’d like to add a detail in the same material and colour, you can choose a beanie with pom-pom in a ready-to-wear version. You can also add neck accessories from this category to complete the set: shawls, wraps and snoods. The model is finished with an eco-leather label that can be removed for washing.
