HELLI Turn-Up Beanie 100% Baby Merino Wool 17 Beige
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
HELLI is a folded merino wool beanie of medium weight, handmade from 100% Baby Merino for autumn and winter. Its key feature is a smooth feel against the skin, without a fluffy surface. Availability depends on the size you choose — click the variant to see whether it is ready to ship or made to order.
Weather and everyday use
This style is for those looking for a merino beanie for colder days, in a calm, versatile beige with a warm brown undertone. It works well for everyday wear from autumn into winter, when you want coverage without a heavy, bulky shape. Thanks to its gentle finish, it may also be a good option for more sensitive skin. If you need a very thick beanie for severe frost, or a style with a fluffy, fuzzy surface, this version will not be the right direction.
Yarn and how it feels to wear
I chose 100% Baby Merino because, in a smooth knit without a halo, this type of yarn works well in direct contact with the skin. The yarn is certified to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, and the material itself has been designated as suitable for sensitive skin.
It is still wool, so before choosing it for the first time, it is worth taking your own individual tolerance to natural fibres into account.
Shape and fit
HELLI is a close-fitting beanie with a folded brim, so it sits close to the head without looking stiff. This shape works well under a hood and in everyday wear, when you want the beanie to stay in place without constant adjusting. The folded edge also gives a cleaner line around the face and a more defined finish than thin, unfolded styles.
What this means in practice
- Medium weight – suitable for the autumn-winter season without the feel of a very heavy, bulky hat.
- Double ribbed brim – improves flexibility and helps the beanie fit the head better.
- Folded construction – gives the edge at the forehead and ears a neater finish, which helps it feel more secure in wear.
- Smooth knit surface without fuzz – reduces the prickly feel of fibres around the face and suits those who do not like fluffy textures.
- Handmade on knitting needles – preserves the character of knitwear that a flat industrial structure does not have.
- Pilling resistance: medium – with regular wear, the surface may naturally show signs of use over time.
Matching pieces
If you would like to change the look of this style, you can choose a beanie with pom-pom in the same yarn and colour. You can also pair it with matching shawls, wraps and snoods if you want a coordinated set for the colder season.
For care, it is worth following the rules suitable for merino wool: see the short wool care guide. This style requires hand washing, which helps it keep its shape and appearance for longer.
