CHMURKA Handmade Turn-Up Alpaca Beanie 01 Ecru
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
The handmade CHMURKA Alpaca 01 Ecru turn-up beanie is a medium-weight alpaca wool beanie for autumn and winter, with a fluffy, softly brushed texture. Available pieces and made-to-order options for each size are shown when you click the size in the variant list.
When this beanie is a good choice
This style works well if you are looking for a warm winter beanie that wraps the head well without feeling very bulky or heavy. The neutral ecru shade pairs easily with calm, understated outfits, as well as coats and jackets in many colours. Thanks to the soft knit, it is a practical everyday option for the city, work, or walks on colder days. If your skin is very sensitive to wool and you do not tolerate even slight itchiness, this beanie may work better worn over your hair or with a headband underneath.
Alpaca wool and how it may feel on the skin
The knit is made from a yarn containing 65% alpaca, with added polyamide and wool, which helps keep the beanie light, springy, and able to hold its shape well. The surface has a soft halo that gives it a cloud-like look and a pleasant finish to the touch. For people with very sensitive skin, however, wool may still feel slightly itchy, especially around the forehead and ears. In that case, it may be better to wear it over your hair or choose a different material.
Fit and how it sits on the head
This is a turn-up beanie with a slightly oversized shape. Once on, it sits softly at the back of the head without a stiff top. The single rib stitch throughout the whole beanie helps it adapt well to the head circumference while keeping its stretch and comfort. The turn-up can be adjusted slightly to cover the ears better or to create a looser, more cloud-like shape at the back. In the right size, the beanie stays in place without too much pressure, but it is not a tight-fitting style.
How this beanie works in everyday wear
- Medium-weight alpaca-blend knit – gives warmth for a typical autumn and winter without the feel of a heavy, overwhelming hat.
- Soft halo on the surface – creates a gentler feel to the touch and gives the beanie a fluffy, cloud-like appearance.
- Rib stitch throughout – adds stretch, so the beanie adjusts more easily to the shape of the head and different hairstyles.
- Turn-up edge – creates an extra layer around the ears and forehead, helping protect from cold and wind.
- Alpaca-rich composition with added polyamide – combines the natural warmth of the yarn with better resistance to losing shape during frequent wear.
- High resistance to pilling – helps the beanie keep a neat appearance for more than one season with proper care.
- Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification – means the yarn used has been tested for harmful substances, which may matter for longer contact with the skin.
Finishing details and matching accessories
This beanie was hand-knitted by me, which made it possible to choose the knit density carefully to balance warmth, stretch, and comfortable wear. The style is finished with a removable eco-leather label, which can be taken off easily before washing if you prefer a completely plain finish. You can pair it with matching shawls, wraps and snoods in coordinating colours to create a consistent set for colder days, including alpaca scarves if they are currently available. To help preserve the qualities of the yarn and the look of the knit, I recommend reading the wool care guide before the first wash.
