When the CHMURKA Morning Mist style may be a good choice
This beanie works well if you are looking for a light handmade beanie for autumn and spring that does not feel heavy on the head while still providing coverage on cooler days. The 18 Morning Mist colour, combining notes of blue and grey, is a good option if you want a calm, muted shade that works easily with everyday outfits. The extended back suits those who prefer a softly slouching beanie without a turn-up. If your skin is very sensitive and you react to any contact with wool, this style may feel close to your comfort limit.
Fibres, fluffy finish and skin contact
The beanie is made from a yarn with a high alpaca content (65%), with added polyamide and wool, certified to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100. The knit is thin and lightweight, with a delicate halo that gives a soft, cosy feel, but it may still be noticeable for people who are especially sensitive to natural fibres. If you have a strong sensitivity to wool, it may be worth wearing a thin headband underneath or choosing a different, smoother material.
To help preserve the shape and qualities of the yarn, gentle hand washing and wool care are recommended.
Shape, length and fit
This is a classic beanie without a turn-up with an extended back, which I make by hand on knitting needles in smooth stockinette stitch. This shape sits softly on the head, leaving a little ease at the top and giving a more relaxed look than close-fitting styles. Because there is no folded brim, you can adjust the coverage slightly by how far you pull the beanie down over the forehead, but there is no extra double layer over the ears. The natural stretch of the smooth stitch allows it to fit typical women’s head circumferences, although if your head is very small or very large, it is worth checking the suggested size.
How this beanie behaves in everyday wear
- Thin, lightweight knit with alpaca – provides head coverage for cooler transitional days without a heavy feel.
- Autumn / spring season – suitable for changeable weather and moderate cold, but it is not a substitute for a thick winter beanie in severe frost.
- Delicate halo on the surface – gives a soft, slightly cloud-like look, though it may lightly catch on very rough fabrics.
- Moderate resistance to pilling – with regular wear, small pills may appear and can be removed to keep the beanie looking neat.
- Smooth stitch – makes it easier to wear the beanie under a hood or a coat with a large collar, without creating too much bulk on the head.
- Extended beanie back – adds a little ease at the top, so it tends to flatten the hairstyle less than very close-fitting styles.
- Handmade with knitting needles – each piece may have very slight differences in stitch placement, which is a natural result of handmade work.
Finishing and matching accessories
The beanie is finished with a removable eco-leather logo tag with the NitkoweLove logo, which can be easily taken off for washing or if you prefer a completely clean edge. If you are putting together a set, you can match this colour with a shawl, scarf or snood – other handmade shawls, scarves and snoods can help you create a coordinated look for the transitional season.
