HELLI Unisex Merino Wool Beanie 100% Baby Merino 20 Dark Grey
| I do my best to show the colours as accurately as possible in the photos, but sometimes my phone has its own ideas ;) Please remember that shades may also look slightly different depending on your screen settings. If I have added several photos, it is worth looking at all of them together for the best colour reference. |
HELLI is a handmade beanie made from 100% Baby Merino, in a medium weight for autumn and winter, with an elongated back and a smooth, fuzz-free surface. You can check availability by clicking on the size — that is where you will see whether a given option is ready to ship or made to order.
Weather and fit
This merino beanie is for those looking for a calm, classic shape without a turn-up cuff or extra details. It works well for everyday wear from cool autumn through winter, when you want head coverage without a very heavy, thick knit. The elongated back creates a more relaxed, unstructured look. If you prefer a close-fitting shape or want the extra layer around the ears that comes from a folded cuff, this style may not be the best choice.
Yarn and feel against the skin
I used 100% Baby Merino — a gentle merino wool chosen with skin contact in mind, including for more sensitive skin. The smooth knit without a fuzzy surface helps reduce the feeling of roughness on the forehead and around the ears, and the yarn is certified to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, confirming it has been tested for harmful substances.
As with any wool, comfort is still a personal experience, so if you have very strong sensory sensitivity, it is worth taking your previous experience with merino into account.
Shape and how it sits
The HELLI style has a beanie shape with a slightly looser fit at the back, so it does not create a stiff, sporty line. The absence of a folded cuff makes the overall look lighter and more minimal. The double rib knit gives the flexibility needed for a comfortable fit, but visually it remains a classic merino wool beanie rather than an oversized style. The dark grey colour is neutral and easy to pair with everyday clothing.
What this means in wear
- 100% Baby Merino – offers a soft, natural feel against the skin and works well where reducing discomfort when wearing wool matters.
- Medium weight – provides warmth suited to autumn and winter without the effect of a very bulky beanie.
- Double rib stitch – adds elasticity to the knit, so the beanie adjusts better during putting on and everyday wear.
- No folded cuff – gives a simpler, less built-up look and less bulk at the forehead.
- Elongated back – creates a more relaxed shape at the back instead of a close fit all the way through.
- Smooth, fuzz-free surface – makes it easier to pair the beanie with different outerwear and gives a clean, understated look.
- Hand-knitted – gives it a crafted character and a knit structure different from mass-produced pieces.
Extras and important information
If you would like to add a matching pom-pom for your beanie in the same colour, you can choose one made from the same yarn. You may also want to look at matching shawls, wraps and snoods if you want a coordinated set for colder days.
This wool needs gentle care, so hand washing is recommended; a short guide is available here: wool care. The yarn has medium resistance to pilling, so with regular use, natural signs of wear may appear over time. The beanie is finished with a detachable eco-leather tag.
