O NitkoweLove
About NitkoweLove
NitkoweLove is handmade knitwear created slowly, without rushing. Each beanie takes many hours to make — from the first stitches to washing and finishing. I make things for everyday use. Pieces that feel comfortable and sit well on the head.
How the beanies are made
I’ve been knitting since childhood, and since around 2016 I’ve been doing it every day. At first I made things mainly for myself — sweaters, hats, different pieces where I learned materials and techniques. Over time, I started making for others.
I don’t follow ready-made patterns. Each beanie is built from the beginning:
- I choose the yarn
- I check how it feels and behaves
- I select the stitch
- I adjust stitch count and elasticity
The goal is simple: the beanie should fit well and feel comfortable.
After finishing, I wash each beanie so the fabric settles and is ready to wear.
Materials and choices
At the beginning, I tried different yarns, including blends with a high percentage of acrylic. They were cheaper and faster to knit, but they weren’t something I wanted to wear myself.
Over time, I moved to natural fibers. They are more expensive, but the comfort is completely different.
I work with yarns I know well and have used for years. I understand how they behave:
- after washing
- during wear
- over time
This allows me to match the stitch and construction to the yarn, so the beanie is not just visually good, but comfortable to wear.
How these beanies feel
Many people say they “don’t look good in hats.” From my experience, a lot depends on fit and construction.
That’s why I make beanies:
- that don’t squeeze too much
- that sit well on the hair
- that adapt to the head
Some models feel more structured and noticeable, others are very light — almost unnoticeable, but still warm.
Natural fibers
With natural fibers, hair tends to static less than with synthetic materials. Many people notice this immediately.
It’s also worth knowing:
- not all wool feels the same
- some fibers can be more noticeable on the skin
- knitwear may develop small pills over time
This is normal. With proper care, a beanie can last for many seasons.
Care
It’s best to treat these pieces with a bit of care:
- hand wash
- gentle detergents
- dry flat
If pilling appears, it can be easily removed with a fabric shaver.
Who this is for
These pieces are not for everyone.
They work best for people who:
- value quality and handmade work
- understand that good things take time
- prefer fewer, better-made items
